YouTube video/Ecto and WordPress.com

  1. I have tried unscuccessfully to embed a Youtube video in a posting to WordPress.com where I have my blog. The embedded code works in Ecto and in the preview section of Ecto. However when I upload WordPress.Com strips out the relevant code. There is a work round by posting using the WordPress editor. However the advised code to use in the WordPress editor does not work in Ecto. Below is the code I am using in Ecto which works locally but not on WordPress.Com
    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QjA5faZF1A8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QjA5faZF1A8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

    And this is the code used in the WordPress non-html editor
    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8]

    I would like to do all my postings using Ecto. Any advice anyone please.

  2. I think there is no workaround for this: if Ecto will not pass along to WordPress the custom code with square brackets you will have to do the insertion manually in the posting box on WordPress itself.

  3. I use Blogdesk and just use the WordPress.com coding in it. Doesn't work in Blogdesk but I've already seen the video. I don't need to see it again. ;)

  4. You can build your own custom tags in Ecto. Try the button '<A>' at the bottom of the new-post-window, then play around with 'Edit Tags'. I use that for posting pics that automatically have the links set and everything. Hint: Use the Clipboard-tag %@.

  5. Marking as resolved since the original poster has them working on their site now.
