YouTube videos will not show up on MyBlog

  1. What the heck is going on?

    I love WordPress with a passion that knows no bounds, but I have a post that I can't post because the video posting hinky-do isn't working. I am doing the usual thing of inserting the url from YouTube. The magic isn't happening.

    What gives, Mighty WordPress?

    The blog I need help with is lishacauthen.wordpress.com.

  2. We require a link to the blog in question starting with http://
    We also require a link to the blog post in question as well.

    What do you mean by "the usual thing"? Are you following these instructions for the youtube shortcode or not?

  3. Yes, timethief, it's the url from youtube. For instance:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/mermensing#p/u/7/loSX-ZFmnNo

    copy-pasted like I've always done.

    I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. I realize I'm barely computer-literate, but I thought I knew the WordPress process. Has something changed that I'm not aware of?

  4. The URL you are giving is of a profile page, not the video page.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loSX-ZFmnNo]

    is the shortcode.

    please post your blog URL for further assistance if needed.

  5. Please use the shortcode.
    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/user/mermensing#p/u/7/loSX-ZFmnNo]

  6. sorry! posted at the same time!

  7. no problem :)

  8. Stink! Thanks for pointing out my mistake! I don't know how long it would have taken me to figure that out!

  9. You're welcome and happy blogging. :)

  10. Thanks but same thing is happening to me. I must be pasting profile page, not video page but don't know how to find video page code. Where is it? Thanks to everyone.

  11. http://www.youtube.com/user/G9MD#p/a/u/2/StVfOYTsqBY

    This is the url that appears in youtube when the video is playing

  12. @g9md: When the video you want is playing, click on "View comments, related videos and more". That should get you out of the YouTube channel and into the YouTube video itself. From there, you should be able to get the exact URL. It should look like youtube.com/watch?v=abc123...

  13. worked like a charm. Thanks.

  14. You're welcome :-)
