    Hi – I’ve just moved to a self-hosted blog from a wordpress.com hosted site.

    I’d like to put 301 redirects on individual posts, not just for the whole blog.

    Does anybody know how I can do this? The redirect module in the store doesn’t seem to be the answer.

    There are lots of plugins available to do it for self-hosted blogs, but I can’ find anything for wordpress.com hosted blogs.

    The blog I need help with is mangetout2012.wordpress.com.

    I’m not aware of any means of getting 301’s to indiviual posts without purchasing domain mapping and mapping an existing domain?

    You refer to plugins which means yopu aren’t aware of the differences between free hosted WordrPress.com blogs and self hosted WordPress.org installs > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs like the one linked to your username and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

    If you exported your blog from WordPress.COM and imported into a WordPress.ORG install your options as noted above are limited.

    Potential work arounds if you use the site redirect from WordPress.COM.

    Delete the unwanted Posts on your .ORG install and the redirect will end up on a generic page not found page

    You can probably do some redirects on your .ORG install side for the Posts that you deleted from your .ORG install – probably a Plug-in for that but you need to make friends at WordPress.ORG for more info.

    Timethief – thanks, I’ll look into domain mapping. I do understand the difference between .com and .org installations!

    My issue is that it’s very easy to find plugins for .org installations that let you redirect individual pages to new addresses. Can’t find any way of easily doing this for my .com blog though.

    Thanks to you and auxclass for suggestions, any more very welcome!

    I want to redirect a subdomain URL of my hosted wordpress website to the home (index.php) web page. I want to redirect findyourcoach.com/xxx to findyourcoach.com/index.php

    How can I do this?

    @hawkeye21
    You cannot get help on this support forum which is only for free hosted WordPress.com bloggers as the site linked to your username is not a free hosted WordPress.com site. Please post to the correct forum for your software where you can get such help http://wordpress.org/support/
    For clarity read > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
