A Request to Staff to remove permalink to New Editor from WP Admin Editor
In case the full title is cut off: A Request to Staff to remove permalink to New Editor from WP Admin Editor
I believe that many WordPress.com users have a distinct preference about where they create their content, be it the New Dash Post Editor or the WP Admin Dash Post Editor.
Since WordPress.com has long since removed the link back to the WP Admin Editor from the New Dash (and advised that this link will not be coming back), I feel it is time to also remove the link to the New Dash Post Editor that exists at the top of the WP Admin Editor.
If I’m writing in the WP Admin Post Editor, it’s because I want to be there. Having this message “There’s now an easier way to create on WordPress.com! Switch to the improved posting experience.” hovering over my Post Editor while I’m trying to write is distracting and disrespectful of my choice. (Yes, I know I can go to “distraction-free” mode, but that’s not the point here.)
At very least WordPress.com can give us the option of dismissing this message about the improved posting experience, just like we can for the message about 2-step verification.
Thanks for listening.

The bottom line is that two years of experiencing development of the new editor and using it from time to time has not improved my blogging experience at all. It has made my blogging experience more time consuming, more difficult and less enjoyable, so I use the classic editor. I want my choice of editor to be respected please.
I sincerely hope the classic editor will be kept – even if in a roundabout way to reach it.
Yes, please remove the link!
All the other links except through WP-Admin go to the “new, not-improved, too-blue-to-use, less functional” editor.
Why would anyone who chooses to use the functional classic editor want to go to the less functional one?
The staff will be polite and listen – but I don’t expect any change – the message “improved…” is an insult to my intelligence – there is a reason they are forcing you to use the Blue Death Editor – something about folks not using if of their own free will – just look at the number of problems with the Blue Death Editor that still show up in the Forum
I HATE the new “improved posting experience”. I just want to register yet another complaint about it. The classic editor is just fine and has many advantages over the new one.
What is it about computer companies that they won’t listen to their users? Adobe have just had to remove the “improved” import from Lightroom after a flood of complaints from users. Microsoft did the same with the Start menu and have had to restore it.
Thanks all for your support – I know the odds are slim, but I think it’s the right time to ask.
In case you saw red when reading my initial post and may have missed my intention, my request in this thread focuses on removing a distracting message from the WP Admin Editor, which cannot be dismissed by users.
I purposely avoided saying one Editor is better than the other as this is not the focus of my post. There are and have been enough other threads in the forum that dwell on what you hate or love about the the New Editor. Please don’t turn this thread into another discussion on that topic. Thanks.
Well our good coder friend, Penguin made a new user script to eliminate the sentence for us.
Give him your thanks on his post:
I will pass the feedback along.
@dandelionsalad – It was very kind of penguin to do that, but it misses the point of this thread. :) I’d like to see Staff either turn off the message for everyone, without the need for installing a script, or at the very least give users the ability to dismiss the message. It’s past time for that.
@rootjosh-please do, and thanks!

It depends on how much you like/don’t like the sentence and link to the “new” editor on every new post and every edited post. I didn’t like it, so am using the user script to avoid seeing it.
WP isn’t going to remove it, or at least isn’t very likely to remove it, so why wait when you can take action yourself?
