  1. Hi there - I recently discovered that my old blog - trepidity.wordpress.com - disappeared. No one can tell me how or why - it's just gone. Now I'm trying to rebuild the site. WP is telling me that 'trepidity' is reserved. Is it possible that the reservation is mine? (It should be.) My name is Lerissa Patrick, username leripat. Could someone check on this for me? TIA.

The blog I need help with is likeabridewithsecondthoughts.wordpress.com.

  2. I thought I was talking to staff. I'm assuming staff has access to that kind of information.

  3. There is no site at trepidity.wordpress.com. Is it possible that you created a WordPress.com account with "trepidity" as a username?

Log out of your current WordPress.com account. Head over to https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword and try to use "trepidity" as a username to recover the password for it.

Check your all possible email addresses for a password reset email. Don't forget to check your spam/ junk folder.

  4. Thanks for the quick response. I know for certain that I didn't use trepidity as a username. I know that my blog named trepidity.WordPress.com is gone -- I discovered that within the past week or so. No one knows why, but as you discovered, it isn't there anymore. Even so, I will do as you say and check to see if I somehow used it as a username.

What I really want to know is if the reservation for "trepidity" is actually mine. Is there any way you can check that?

  5. My first try at that link: I typed in "trepidity;" it was changed to leripat and the password was filled in and I was logged in. Second, third, fourth tries -- it didn't accept trepidity.

  6. When we register a username account the matching blog URL is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.

https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/trepidity was registered 10 years ago and as I said above username accounts are not deleted here. https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ I will also add that Staff will not violate the privacy policy and provide you with the email addresses of those who registered those accounts.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog's dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    * You will have to replace "name_of_blog" with the actual blog's name in that URL.

I recommend bookmarking that link or memorizing it.

You can update your email address here https://wordpress.com/me

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.

If you did not register the site under your username account and do not have the required access, then you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it, and have them act or transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

If the login information has been lost go to
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-password

If required use the account recovery form
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

  7. NOTE: If you cannot locate the email verification check your email client spam filter, and if you use gmail or google apps please consult these guides:

  8. Wow. Thanks!

  9. You are welcome and best wishes. :)
