A Tweet button??

While viewing my Dashboard, I saw a notice about the new “Tweet” button and saw it in the “Extras” section. I have one question, I don’t have Twitter, so how would it help? The reason for not getting Twitter is because I don’t see its value. I know its a fad, but how would it help promote my particular blog?
The blog I need help with is inspiration-point.org.
Twitter has a 140 character-limit on posts, because of this users often have to put links they wish to post about through a URL-shortening service like TinyUrl.com. The tweet button does this automagically for your readers so that it can then be pasted straight into a twitter post.
This is a service for my readers? So, I don’t have to get a Twitter account. If so, I am getting a better picture of how it can help in blog traffic.
For now, writing good quality posts and promoting my site has been on my mind. It didn’t click in that enabling a Tweet button can help.
