add image to sidebar
I am trying to add an image to the sidebar of my blog and it isn’t working (it just shows a question mark). This is the blog:
and this is the image:
Also, is there a way to effect the leading in the CSS for the sidebar? thanks!
The blog I need help with is littledeanbean.wordpress.com.
Accepted image types end in JPG, GIF, or PNG. What you’ve done is grab the link to the photo on flickr; you should be grabbing the HTML/BB Link and make sure the size you are grabbing won’t break your site’s sidebar.
Since Duet is a Premium Theme, if you have any further questions, you should ask in the special Premium Theme forum that you can access with the username you purchased the Premium Theme with.
Just a thought, why host your site graphics on flickr rather than upload the size you need here? If flickr should be down for any reason, you’ll be getting broken image boxes, or worse still, flickr’s “this photo is currently unavailable” image holder.
excuse my ignorance, but what is the HTML/BB link and if i upload it on wordpress where would i grab it from? thanks!
There are different kinds of code that operate on different kinds of software. justjennifer has told you to get the code which can be used on our software and that is the HTML/BB link.
oh ok, i copied the URL after uploading it on wordpress and that worked, thanks everyone!
I am trying to add an image to image widget on sidebar or footer and nothing works. I mean I’m able to drag the widget over and drop it in box, and then access the pop-up box, type in all info required, but when I click save, nothing happens and it won’t show up on my blog. I’ve tried everything I can think of and have referred to friends who know wordpress and tell me to do exactly what I’m doing. It’s a jpg image unattached in my media library, on a .com, twenty ten site. I reduced it to the necessary size to fit in sidebar. Nothing works, it just won’t take. I’m so frustrated and have tried every “glich”, does anyone have any suggestion as to what might be wrong? And if it is a wordpress-end technicality, how do I go about making it right? Any insights would be greatly apprecited–thanks.
Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here. http://browsehappy.com/
Have you tried using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled?
Do you have third party cookies enabled? http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
Exactly which browser and version of it are you using? If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
Do you have another browser you can try?
Time Thief thank you kindly for the tips and links. I will explore these and let you know (I’m not the most computer savvy person so it may take a while for me to sort it out!)
Just take one step at a time. :)
Well I tried all of those and it’s still not working. The last thing I did was switch browser to google chrome and though everything is working faster and seemingly cleaner on my computer, the image widget will still not take. Any other suggestions? I’ve had other technical difficulties, like trying to install a paypal donation button, and was told that wordpress sometimes scrambles the code in translation and no matter what we did, it wouldn’t work. I know that’s a completely different issue from this forum, but I’m bringing it up to show that I’ve stumbled across barricades here before and no matter what was done on my end, it wouldn’t resolve. Could it possibly be another wordpress-end technicality, and if so, how would I make it right? Should i just keep on trying another day? I truly appreciate your time and feedback. A million thanks to you for all your expertise…
Dear Time Thief, I just wanted to let you know that I just kept on trying the same thing over and over, and lo and behold, it finally worked! So I guess changing browsers really helped, and also maybe at certain times functions work and at certain times they don’t…But I learned a lesson, of patience. It’s just so frustrating when you put so much time and energy into something and it bottoms out. I checked out your blog, and find it very interesting and useful…Thanks again for sharing some much valuable insight, I’m sure I’ll be checking it out again.
