add to black, horizontal menu bar
new to this. I chose adelle.
Under the heading there is a black banner.
It says “home” and “About”
How do I add more headings, like recipes, crafts, etc accross that banner.??
The blog I need help with is fivehoursofsleep.wordpress.com.
Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
(1) there is only one page we can post to one any blog and
(2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update.
Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags too will update automatically update with posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.
Here’s a link to a custom menu walk-through > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/08/11/wordpress-com-custom-menu-walk-through/
There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here. > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/
The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page
Most common-misconception is definitely it takes a long time to create a blog.
Thanks for the hyper-links for more information.
So much for living up to my mantra…Keep it simple!!
It seems there is nothing left in the cyberworld or perhaps in the whole world that is truly simple. That’s coming from a woman who lives in a semi-remote location, draws water from her own well and splits waste wood for heat.
Hi – I get it! I live half the year in the bush!! Float plane access only. Central Canada – brrrrrr.
I think I am just getting old!
Ps. We use lake water ( must be purified) a diesel generator for electricity and wood for heat. I am so grateful for Satellite dishes for communication. Gotta love wifi!!
I appreciate your help with this.
