Add VideoPress

  1. I am looking to add VideoPress to my self hosted WordPress site but can't find any way to add the VideoPress upgrade. Can't find any links in my dashboard, how do I get this?

  2. Please paste the URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your username to your blog (as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting). We can't help without that.

  3. Ah sorry, you wrote "self hosted WordPress site"! You're in the wrong forum - see the stickies up top on the main page of this forum.

  4. @panaghlotisadam: Ya, but unless you're good with server administration, the self hosted version tells you do get a account, and use it.

@luffer: What you need to do is sign up for an account at, from that dashboard, click on upgrades, and buy the videopress upgrade. Then on your self hosted blog, get the videopress plugin, and I think you'll need your API key to activate it, you can find that on your dashboard under Users -> Your profile. From there, you're on your own, as it no longer really involves (other than the space limitations, for more space, go back to upgrades, and buy more).

Alternatively, if you are good at setting up complex pieces of code, you could make your own build of videopress. However, you are defiantly in the wrong forums for help doing that.

    Good luck.

  5. @tbol3: Yup exactly!

I've got a account under the name "Luffer" but the dashboard doesn't have an Upgrade link in the Dashboard :-(

  6. That's because you registered a username only, and not a blog as wel,l so what you see is "the global dashboard".

  7. Hmmm, but I don't want a WordPress blog I just want a VideoPress account. I've got a self hosted WordPress site. Is that the only way to do it?

Seems a bit silly to me!

  8. Google search string: "videopress for"
Search results > support documentation search string "videopress"
    Search results

  9. Support Staff contact link

  10. @luffer, could get the blog that is tagged to your username, and then you could set it to private, it would be the same effect as you not having one.

  11. Alternatively, does have a video player (I think), but you'll have to go to the forums at for help with that. (Oh, and a google search gave this: )

  12. @tbol3 (re 9:21 PM): Thanks - wasn't aware of that.
