adding code for paypal buttons to wordpress

  1. Hi: I know this has been covered before and many have had problems but the WordPress Help page suggests selecting the Email Tab once you have Created your button. There is currently no Email Tab offered when you create your paypal button code. Can anyone advise or can the wordpress help for this issue please be updated to address this issue?

    Thanks so very much!

The blog I need help with is

  2. There is currently no Email Tab offered when you create your paypal button code.

That sounds like it could be a browser related issue to me.

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at please try upgrading or switching first.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see >

If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at please do these four things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:

    2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled:

    3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    4. Try enabling HTTPS:

If it’s still happening, let us know which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary and also post any error reports you get.

  3. thanks -- have tried everything you've suggested. Still not working and still not able to see the Email Tab on the paypal site. I'm using Safari 5 and also tried Chrome. I'm unable to update to newer versions of browers due to the version of Mac I'm using. Hoping there is a way to do this and would greatly appreciate any other suggestions or troubleshooting. The fixes others mention in the Forums for this issue are not working for me...

I believe the guide at needs to be updated, as PayPal has changed their UI somewhat.

  6. Thanks so very much!! I believe the Guide needs to be updated as well!

Appreciate it and its all for a very good cause!

  7. The guide we have could be outdated and if it is Staff will note that when they get to this thread and update the information for adding an unencrypted PayPal donation button.

  8. The guide was last updated on April 8, and I just walked through the steps again without issue.

I recommend contacting payPal about this. There may be a block or setting in your account preventing you from viewing the option.

  9. @macmanx
Thanks. That was my read of this too.

Ahh, I found it too, though not where I expected. Once you click Generate code at the bottom of the page, the next page gives you the Email tab.

  11. I'll call them again tomorrow but today [although they were quite helpful otherwise] they told me it was a trial and error process. However I didn't have this specific issue so will ask them tomorrow and hopefully get it resolved. Thanks for the speedy responses!

wfen: please read through the guide very carefully as it is correct after all. The confusion I ran into was not clicking the button to generate the code before looking for the email tab.

  13. You're welcome from me.

  14. You're welcome!

  15. I just tried it again and the button I see does not say Generate Code it says Create Button. When I click Create Button I get a page with only one tab which says only Website with no Email tab at all.

As has timethief and macmanx have both said, you'll need to contact paypal, as the steps in the guide have worked for all of us. As has been stated, there may be something specific to your PayPal account affecting it.

  17. Hi all: I Just spoke to Paypal again and this issue has to do with adding a dropdown menu. If you add a drop down to your button you do not see the Email Tab option. You might want to add this to your document. I now have to manually add two different buttons rather than having a drop down menu. Not done yet but I do now see the Email Tab.

    Thanks again,

  18. From the document:

DO NOT check the box next to any of the customization options, like drop-down menus or text fields. If you select any of those checkboxes, you’ll generate a button that you won’t be able to use on ;)
