Adding explicit and duration tags to podcast episode posts

I recently started a podcast with a wordpress.com blog, and I was wondering if there was a way to add itunes:duration tags into the RSS feed for the podcast, so that listeners can see how long each episode is before they download.

Additionally, I have the podcast series set to display as explicit, but the individual episodes show as clean in the RSS feed. This is an issue, and as far as I can tell, there’s no way to change this without hosting the blog elsewhere so that I can utilize a plugin to build by RSS feed.

Any help or clarification of these issues would be much appreciated, thanks!

The blog I need help with is afictionadospod.wordpress.com.

Did you ever find a resolution to your second question?

I am having the same issue. My podcast is set to explicit, but the individual episodes show as clean in iTunes. I have submitted a help ticket to WordPress, but it’s been over 24 hours with no response. The folks in the iTunes forum said having the episodes labeled as clean when they’re not is grounds for having my podcast removed from iTunes.

    Can anyone help?

STOP dredging up old threads and copying and pasting duplicate content into them. You already contacted Staff. They have a backlog. All you need is patience.

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

I posted this in two places on the off chance that one of the original posters was able to resolve the issue and had advice, not to try to dredge up old threads. I am new to this, and I honestly did not expect a response from a service I am paying for to take more than 24 hours. I was beginning to think I wouldn’t get a response at all, which is why I turned to the forums. Sorry if I broke protocol.

    Hi there,
Not to worry. There are tens of thousands of us and only 400 Staff not all of whom are on Support Staff. Staff will be definitely emailing you at the email address associated with your account. They work through all support tickets in datestamp order, address those with the earliest dates first, and move forward to the most recent ones, as would be expected. All you need it patience and to get rid of the expectation of 24 hour service because given the number of support threads, support tickets and how complex the issues are in each one, 24 hpours may not be your reality.

Edit: hpours was meant to be hours

    Hello afictionadospod!

I’m going to check about the podcast duration and I’ll post here when I have a position.

About the explicit tag, the Explicit configuration you do in your WordPress.com site is only for the podcast, the episodes need to be tagged as Explicit individually. You can check how to do that on the link below:

    https://www.maketecheasier.com/add-explicit-clean-tags-itunes/

The exemple above uses the app Mp3tag to create a tag called “ITUNESADVISORY” with the “1” value. You have to tag the mp3 files before uploading.

afictionadospod, about the podcast duration, there isn’t an option to set up this information. I’ve passed this along to our team, with the recommendation to add the required tag to set up the podcast duration on the feed.
