Adding extra menu-bar in theme Sela

  1. Hi there,

    I am using the theme Sela. I have a horizontal menu bar. Ik would love an extra menubar on the topside on the right for the shopping cart, account etcetera.
    Unfortunately I think that the theme doesn't support the extra menu. What to do? Is there an option on extra CSS programming to make it?

    Thank so much,

    Love, Barbara

  2. Hi Barbara,

    Thanks for posting your question. Many volunteers have been working on it.

    First, please confirm that the site is that you want help with. If so, do you have a business plan attached to it? This would give you more solutions.

    Second, could you provide a link with a site that has this double menu feature that you are hoping to do? Do you want two horizontal menus or could a menu with a sidebar custom menu widget complete the task? If so, please review the steps to creating one here -

    If you're interested in other themes besides Sela and have a business plan, there are many themes to review here -

    As well, you could utilize a plugin option such as - to potentially complete the task.

    Apologies if this has amount of information has overwhelmed you, let us know if you need any clarity with anything.

    To add to that Barbara if you want to use the Sela theme with Woo Commerce, using widgets you can make it look similar to this: Screenshot You can also create a drop down to have something like this: Screenshot

    I hope that helps.

  5. Hi guys,

    First of all, thank you so much for your quick and clear response.

    @Jameshelps; yes it is about the website and I have a business package.

    This is the example I saw: This website has an extra "bar" on the top right.

    @Crazywickedawesome; thank you for the screenshots! That could be an answer also. It's only that I use the sidebar for feeds and it is a little croudy right now with social icons, newsletter subsriptions etc.

    If there is a way within my theme I would be happy. I am a bit scared to change the theme because I have come already so far with my website and it's content. Or do you think there is no risk?

    Thanks so much,

    Love, Barbara

    Hi Barbara, We're happy to help. Changing your theme will not modify your content, however things like CSS and widget locations may change as they are often theme specific.

    Woo recommends the storefront theme but they also have a number of child themes available for sale that are all designed around Woo Commerce support. You can check them out here: Woo Themes Storefront Please keep in mind, You'll be able to try the default Storefront theme before fully applying it but not the child themes as those are a separate purchase. You may however, try out demos of the child themes.

    Here is an example of how you can try out the Storefront Theme once you've installed it.

    If you need any more help please let us know :)

  8. Hi Barbara, the site you referenced for an example is using the Divi theme, which has a number of menu locations. To add a menu to the Sela theme would be quite the undertaking and involve making a Child Theme and then modifying some of the theme files and creating the necessary CSS to style that menu. Since you have the Business Plan, this is doable though. Here are a couple of links to information on Child Themes and adding Navigation Menus.

  9. Thank you so much! I have decided (after a nights sleep ;)) that I am going to add the shopping cart in the existing menu. To differentiate it would be so cool to have a illustration of a shoppingcart as the menu-title. Do you know how I can do that?

    Thanks so much!

    Love, Barbara

  10. Hi there, if you add your shopping cart to the main navigation, we can insert an image of a cart with custom CSS for you. If you want to add that, and post back here and let me know when you have that done, and provide a link to your uploaded cart image, I would be happy to help with that.

  11. Dear Thesacredpath,

    Thank you so much for your help. Ik have added the shopping cart to my navigation. It is called "winkelmand".
    I have also uploaded the shopping-cart icon. You can find it here:

    I am grateful for your help!

    Love, Barbara

  12. See what you think with this.

    #menu-item-574 a {
    	color: transparent;
    #menu-item-574 {
    	background: url("") no-repeat scroll 25px center / contain;
  13. I absolutely LOVE it!!! Thank you so so much!!!!!

  14. Glad to hear this did the trick!
