Adding Facebook Share Button to Blog Post?

  1. Hi Time thief,

    I need help from you currently i am working on a french site in that there are gallery with videos and images.My client asked to share that videos and images to facebook.I searched for that and kept the code it is working fine for only images , I am getting problem with videos.

    The Problem is i stored videos in a folder with a name of user id and i cut the preview image for that video and stored in that folder. In my site i goto gallery page and clicked on the share button for the particular video a popup is opening and sharing the preview image and getting title and description of that video.I clicked the share button in that popup after that popup closed. But in my face book account it is showing all the information (title,description,link of my site) except video file.

    Please can u help on this

    here is the below code :

    <meta name="medium" content="video" />
    <meta name="title" content="tile of the video"/>
    <meta name="description" content="description of that video"/>
    <link rel="image_src" href="image path" />
    <link rel="video_src" href=""/>
    <meta name="video_height" content="240" />
    <meta name="video_width" content="320" />
    <meta name="video_type" content="application/x-shockwave-flash" />

    Thanks in advance,

  2. Well, that does not appear to be hosted on a site, and so neither TT nor anyone else here will be able to help you with that. sites can't host flash.

    AddThis manually adds any new social network to their buttons. Their buttons is what I use.

  6. @timethief, that was very easy to do via the pearlilabs link. Thanks! A simple html addition people.

    You're welcome All the social bookmarking alternatives we can use on are found here > Only the getsociallive bookmarks auto update Facebook and Twitter after publication.

  8. @t3ck,
    You know, the tutorial was written the way it was because I cannot upload bookmarklets here in bcos it's javascript.
    I have taken your suggestion and updated the post. I have posted the bookmarklet in Blogger (although I hated to offer goodies elsewhere) and that makes the tutorial much easier.

    The way you are using addthis share in your blog simply won't work in all situations. Sorry. Please read this post to know why.
    How to use the Addthis button PROPERLY in the side bar of a blog
    Although it was written keeping the side bar in mind, the explanation is valid for addthis button in individual blog posts.

    If you want something like Addthis (ie: a compact button) try this method instead to be able to post the button without leaving your blog post admin!
    Addtoany offers an easy bookmarklet that creates social bookmarking and email post options for blog posts in just one click!
