Adding Guest Blogger's Name to Their Post

  1. I recently had a guest blogger write a post on my behalf and was wondering if there was a way to attach his name to the article he wrote without actually manipulating the post. My theme is Pilcrow.

I know there is an author widget you can add to your sidebar & blog but I have my own idea for that. For the time being, I just want to attach his name to the post he wrote so everybody knows it was his, not mine. As of right now I have yet to publish his post.

    Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is

  2. BTW, he is a "contributor" to my blog. Don't know if that changes anything.

  3. If this person is not an official user of your blog > user roles the you have added to the blog the software will not provide an author byline. What you can do is simply type in a byline on the very first line of the guest post.

  4. Thanks timethief. He is in fact a "contributor" to my blog. I invited him through the users option in the dashboard and have confirmed he is authorized to write the post and so forth.

  5. glad she helped; srry im just exploring wordpress and what you can do

  6. Will WordPress automatically add his name if he is a "contributor". As of right now, my articles/posts do not include my name as the author. I do not know if that is because up until now I've been the only author or because I have selected a certain setting.

    I appreciate any further help.

  7. Hi again,
No the contributors do not get bylines. Regardless of the theme, bylines will only display now if there are at least two authors who both have at least one published post in the blog. Changes Bylines for Authors

  8. I'm assuming you bolded "authors" to differentiate between "authors" and "contributors"?

Considering his is a "contributor" and not an "author" his name will not show up. Is that correct?

  9. Disregard. I read the link you attached and am clear now.

Thank you for your prompt responses!

    Have a great day!!
