Adding media headache!

When I try to add pictures to my blog post the pictures all jump to the top of the page shoving whatever I wrote already beneath them. I don’t want that! What is going wrong or what should I do to correct this?

The blog I need help with is imagesbytdashfield.wordpress.com.

Ah. Here we go. I’m having the same problem.

I add images from an outside URL. When I attempt to add photos within the body of the text, they all jump to the top. The only way to resolve the issue is to copy the image, paste it where I want it, and then cut the original.

I’m running updated Firefox with no add-ons, and have done the cookie/cache/restart business. Thanks!

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

OK-doke. I’ll work with it a bit more tonight but it seems to be working now. Patience is a virtue. ;)

It was happening with us posting tonight too. It’s a real bitch to try to get the text back on top but it is doable. Also pictures are disappearing on a daily basis, and the wordpress site seems to shake, like scroll bars rattle. Flash on steroids? :)

We are having the same issues as well for our Teacher Pages for school. Is very frustrating because pictures, documents and everything is jumping to the top of the page not where the cursor is located. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have enjoyed using WordPress as our Learning Management System and would hate to have find an alternative if these issues persist.

I’m having the same issue. Switched from Firefox to Safari tonight and was able to add two photos, then it stopped uploading with no explanation. Changed my setting to secure login and that didn’t help.

    For this issue:

When I try to add pictures to my blog post the pictures all jump to the top of the page shoving whatever I wrote already beneath them.

Please see this post, and my request at the bottom. Let’s keep the discussion there to make it easier to troubleshoot. Thanks!

    toemailer –

Also pictures are disappearing on a daily basis, and the wordpress site seems to shake, like scroll bars rattle. Flash on steroids? :)

When you say pictures are disappearing, could you please describe in more detail what you mean exactly? Could you provide a link to a post or two where photos have disappeared so I can investigate?

In terms of the “shaking” – what browser and version does this happen in? Could you try a different browser and let me know if it happens there?

This appears to be a problem specific to Firefox 16. If you can, upgrading to Firefox 17 seems to solve the problem. Our developers will have a look at this.

Another workaround is to insert images in Text mode, by clicking the Text tab next to the Visual Editor tab.

The issue with images not being inserted in the right spot in posts in Firefox 16 and earlier should now be fixed. If anyone is still having this issue, please let me know.

If you’re having a different issue than this one, please don’t post here but start a new thread instead. Thanks!

I’m using the most up to date version of Firefox and I’m having the problem where the images are being inserted at the top of the page too.

Also quite a few times I’ve tried to upload an image and it kind of ‘gets stuck’. The only way out of this seems to be to close the media screen and refresh or save your post, then try again. I don’t know whether this because images are too big for for another reason. Any help would be appreciated!

In the meantime I’m using my iPad to blog…

Pictures upload fine, but “inserting” them into my post doesn’t even happen. They don’t appear at all. I have to insert them manually using the file URL and HTML coding. Not an ideal and convenient way to do things. Same goes with youtube videos.

blogpadproeditor – would you mind trying two things:

Please visit this page – http://supportdetails.com/ – and copy-paste what it says under Web Browser.

Could you please clear your browser cache and cookies?

    Same goes with youtube videos.

YouTube videos can’t be uploaded via the Add Media tool, they are embedded by copying and pasting the address of the video on its own line, following the instructions here:

Yes, I’m well aware that’s how youtube videos work, that’s exactly what I was talking about. The code doesn’t appear after I submit the link.

    Browser details sent.
