adding page links to header

In my initial efforts to build a set of pages, I accidentally deleted that first page that was installed by the system.

How do I add new page links in addition to the “home” and “blog” links in the header?

I’ve looked everywhere in the control panel. Nothing there. I’m okay with editing code, if that’s what’s necessary.

Can you point me in the right direction?

You want to add a new page?

From dashboard, click Write, then Write Page.

The links in the header are template specific. Some have them; some don’t.

Excuse me but most wordpress.com blog themes obtained from -> Dashboard -> Presentation -> Themes do not allow for links in the header. There are some exceptions like K2-lite and Connections. But with most other themes you can achieve this only through css customization of an existing theme and I think that is what biologyfool is expressing.
You have chosen the Sapphire theme and it does not provide for page links in the header. Perhaps you would like to drag and drop your pages widget into your sidebar to provide linked page access to your viewers.

I assumed when he said links he was referring to the tabs in some themes (like K2) since he was asking specifically about links to pages.

Exactly and thanks for your reply. I edited my post above to make more sense (hopefully). I don’t have the time right now to do the full theme run down regarding which themes do and don’t have links for pages in the headers as I’m multi-tasking at work right now.

Monday: Good morning. Thanks for the feedback. I’ve switched my theme back to “Contempt” to illustrate the problem.

There used to be a link to a page called “About” but I accidentally deleted that page.

It sounds as though, they’ll be no way to get that the “About” page back.

Thanks, timethief! If this is the case, your suggestion about using the Page widget may be the only answer.

You can get it back by following the instructions for making a new page I put in the first reply above.
