Adding social media buttons to wordpress site — please help!
I can’t seem to figure out how to add social media buttons to my wordpress site. I have no problem finding the various codes, but am finding it extremely difficult to successfully paste the code. I’ve looked at every possible menu item but there doesn’t seem to be anywhere to put the code that actually works.
I did try pasting the google plus button code at the end of one of my blog posts, however, there wasn’t an option to change the view to html, so when I pressed save, the blog post appeared as code with no google plus button.
I also tried pasting the code into a text widget so that the button appeared in my side bar, but again, when I saved it, only code appeared — no google plus button.
Any easy to follow directions would be much appreciated.
The blog I need help with is clarexanthos.com.
At the moment, I see social media sharing buttons at the end of each of your posts. Are you referring to something else?
As far as the Google plus button in your sidebar, here’s a previous forum post that explains how to add it https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-do-i-embed-my-google-page-onto-my-blog-page-like-the-facebook-like-page?replies=6#post-1457668

Thanks for your reply…yes, I had no difficulty enabling the sharing buttons that are currently on my site, where readers can share the posts on their social media pages. All I had to do was tick enable on my wordpress settings. What I’m currently trying to do is set up the buttons that refer readers to my own personal google plus, twitter pages etc which seems to be a lot more challenging. I will check out the links you sent….thanks — much appreciated.
P.S. If you assign categories and tags with the same words in them to any post then you are creating a spamdexing or tag spamming issue with search engines like Google and Bing, because they view them as being one in the same. Neither Categories nor Tags are required for SEO purposes. Search engines like Google send targeted traffic to your blog based on results of keyword searches of your indexed content.
