Adding WordPress to my .Net website

I want to add my wordpress blog to my existing website and set it up as a sub domain, such as blog.golfthere.com. But my developer is telling me that they can’t do it because WP is in PHP and my site is in .NET. Is there an easy way to simply “PULL” my content over? My SEO person is telling me that it won’t have the same impact as hosting a wordpress.org site and that my content will show up in two places (blog.golfthere.com and golthere.wordpress.com) and that will hurt my SEO efforts. Any way to only have it post in one area (my site) and tell my .NET developers to bugger off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The blog I need help with is golfthere.wordpress.com.

If you map a subdomain such as blog.golfthere.com to a WordPress.com blog, then the content will not show up in two places for the blog. There will actually be one blog and it will use the custom domain name. That shouldn’t hurt SEO at all.

Also, if you want to use WordPress.com to manage your blog, it doesn’t necessarily have to be connected to your .NET site at all. It can be totally separate if it’s on a subdomain.

Would be nice to hear what other WordPress.com experts here in the forums here have to say about this too. :)

Designsimply—thank you so much for your response this is very much along the lines of what I was hoping/thinking. I am looking to use the WordPress system for managing my content for the blog and use the CMS that they have for the rest of the site. Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated too!

If you want some more insight into how Google sees your site on WordPress.com, you can always make use of Webmaster Tools:

Thanks Markel. I had set up Google and now just did Bing and Yahoo! Really appreciate the help.
