Inquiring on behalf of pozsocial.wordpress.com. This is a not-for-profit group and the administrator is now deceased. He has left no passwords. As far we now his e mail is still active but no one knows the password. Can we reactivate with a different e mail? Or can we delete it without the admin password?

The blog I need help with is awarenessisfree.wordpress.com.

You will need to work with the staff on this one – does anyone else have access to the blog (editor, author, etc.)?

Blogs here belong to the account that registered them and the email address of the blog –

I have flagged this for the staff to help –

The administrator did not leave behind any passwords. No one else was involved with the set up or editing of the page.

    Hi there,

If you’d like to take over this account, I would need some additional information from you. If that’s the case, I’ll send you an email to collect it (including power of attorney and a scan of a death certificate). If, however, you would just like the blog set to private, I can help with that.

Just let me know your preference!

Thanks. I’ll pass on the options to the group and will let you know what they decide.

    That works for me.

I hope that we can get it all sorted out quickly for you.

The group has opted to set it for private as we are not able to get the documents you need. We would like for the dormant blog page to not be prominent when the group is searched on google as it would give the wrong impression that the is no longer active. Please guide through how to set it to private. I do not have the password set by that the creator of the page.

    Hi there,

I have set the site to private for you. The private setting means that search engines cannot index it, so within a few days, it will not be found on Google or other search engines. Anyone with the link will not be able to access the site, only people who have been specifically invited – which only an Admin can do.

This should take care of it for you.
