Ads on top of my featured post

  1. Hello,

I use the theme Rebalance. It looks slick and it looks nice. I also have a free account, so I acknowledge that there needs to be ads -- I have no problem with that.

But recently ads have been appearing on my featured story, forcing the headline and text into the space above it. This looks pretty bad. Is there any way to change ad placement, or to do something to make them go somewhere else? I'm obviously not against ads, but it really destroys the design in this case. If I can move things around to put the ads elsewhere on the front page, that'd be great. If not, I'll probably have to take off the featured story feature, even though, without ads on top of it, it really ties it together.

The blog I need help with is cjsfsportsreport.wordpress.com.

  2. I do not see what you see.

Unless you purchase a Personal plan http://wordpress.com/pricing or a higher level Premium or Business Plan there will be ads placed by WordPress.COM on your site.

If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link then what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/

Any other ads appearing to you are not placed by WordPress.com. You have an issue on your browser or computer. Unfortunately they may be placed there by software on your own computer. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.

These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:

To get Staff help about ads appearing on the site I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on a support forum thread. Will you please provide screenshots. You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide for screenshots http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

  3. I appreciate the response. Here's the screen pic: https://snag.gy/B416LW.jpg.

They are both WordPress.com ads, so they seem like they are from there, but I haven't clicked on them. I only see them when I'm not logged into my account, so when logged in, they look perfect.

It looks this way on multiple different computers, but I'll check again when I get to another computer.

Again, I have no problem with ads at the end of blog posts, I got a free account, so that's what I signed up for. This, however, is more disruptive than normal ads.

  5. Thanks for providing screenshots for Staff. Please be patient while waiting for their help.

  6. Thanks for the quick response, appreciate the support.

  7. You're welcome and not to worry as Staff will fix this as soon as they can. :)

  8. Hi cjsfsports,

I can see the ads you are referring to — they are displayed over the top of your featured content. I've reported their placement to our ads team and I've been able to apply a temporary fix.

I'll be in touch when I have more information.

  9. Thanks.
