How do I make the ‘about me’ box static on my home page, and have my posts fall under it (on my home page)?

I purchased the adventure theme but I cant seem to get it to customize.

    Am I missing something?

The blog I need help with is yogitravelling.wordpress.com.

You have two choices on any blog
    (1) All posts on the front page.
    (2) A static front page and posts on a different page.

By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors who will not be happy to have to click through an About page every time they visit your blog as they come to read your most recently published content. Creating that situation can make some visitors annoyed – so annoyed that they stop following your blog.

However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for all published posts (not pages) to display on in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top.

To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change for each page and click “save changes”.
    A static page (select below)
    Front page:
    Posts page:

    The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

I purchased the adventure theme but I cant seem to get it to customize.

Have you consulted your detailed theme description page?
    https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/adventure/
    and
    https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/adventure/support/
Note: Need extra help? Visit the Adventure support forum.

Have you consulted this support doc as well? https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/

If you have not purchased the Premium upgrade bundle which includes the custom design upgrade, then note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.

See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable custom design upgrade required for CSS editing. See:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/

You do not need to load the design tools unless you have the Custom Design upgrade. All of these functions can be accessed from your dashboard – without loading the custom design tools – no upgrade required.
    Appearance > Header
    Appearance > Background
Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
Site Title and Tagline > Settings > General

If you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.

To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

    Thanks.

I guess I expected that the Adventure theme allowed me to keep my ‘about me’ static on my home page, and let me post below it (in reverse chronological order)

    I guess I was wrong.

If you look at the picture of the Adventure theme (before you buy it) this is how it is shown.

Another question, in the picture it shows ‘recent adventures’ can this be done?

How do I make the ‘about me’ box static on my home page, and have my posts fall under it (on my home page)?

To set up your site like the demo you’ll need to set your front page to display a static page (instead of your latest posts) and assign the “Home” page template to it. There are full instructions in the Adventure setup guide.

You can then go into your Customizer’s Theme section, and assign an About Me page as the Home Featured Page, as you see here:

    Thank you kathrynwp.

I was able to get it to work, but now my widgets are missing (categories).

I’m trying to figure out what went wrong but can’t seem to locate it.

Glad you got the front page working. Adventure’s sidebar does not display on the front page with the Home template. If you’d like widgets displayed on the front page, you may use one of the two footer widget areas.

If you need additional help, please post in Adventure’s dedicated support forum:
