Advertising on my blog

  1. Why am I now seeing advertising on my blog? I've had this blog for years and never had or wanted ads to pop up on my blog page, don't want them now either, so why am I all of a sudden seeing real estate ads on my photography blog? Not very happy about this, don't remember agreeing to having ads on my blog.

The blog I need help with is steverawlsblog.wordpress.com.

  2. Ads have been appearing on WordPress.COM sites since 2006.

Unless you purchase a Personal plan http://wordpress.com/pricing or a higher level Premium or Business Plan there will be ads placed by WordPress.COM on your site.

If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link then what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/

Any other ads appearing to you are not placed by WordPress.com. You have an issue on your browser or computer. They are being placed there by software on your own computer, unfortunately. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.

These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:

If you need Staff help about ads appearing on their site type modlook into the sidebar tags on a support forum thread, after providing screenshots.

You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide for screenshots http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.
