Animated gif Not Showing
I have a small (100 x 31) animated gif that I am trying to add to my blog. So far I have tried:
Adding it to my Media Library and inserting it as an Image into the body of the post.
Adding it to my Media Library and inserting it as Media into the body of the post.
Uploading it directly from my computer and inserting it into the body of the post.
In all cases, the gif appears in “Edit” mode and the animation is working.
However, it does NOT appear in “Preview” mode or when the post is published. There is a blank space where the gif should be.
At first I thought it was the color of the GIF (blending in with the background color of the page), but it doesn’t matter which page I insert it on, it doesn’t show up.
Here is a link to the page where the GIF was inserted: http://patriciaspics.com/ It was inserted just below the words: “Bluest Water Ever! ~ Northport, Michigan”
Here is the URL of the image itself: http://patriciaspics.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/lemonlight1.gif
Also, can a gif image be linked to an outside web site by typing the URL in the “File URL” field for the image?
Thanks much – Patricia
The blog I need help with is patriciaspics.com.
Yes, an image can link to an outside webpage by typing the URL in the “File URL” field.
The problem in your case is the theme you’re using. Monotone and Duotone are quirky themes: they display one post per page and one image per post. The only way you can make that image show up in the lower part of the post is by inserting it as a gallery (but then it cannot link to an external webpage).
You can add it to the bottombar, by using an image widget or a text widget. Or you can switch to a more “normal” theme.
Thank you panaghiotisadam!
Dah! I forgot about the limiting aspect of Monotone and Duotone…one image per post!
Thank you for the tips and linking instructions too!
I really appreciate it.
