Are followers viewing post tracked?

    It used to be e-mail notifications to subscribers would include minimal information and a link to the originating post. That necessitated actually going to the blog to read the particular entry.

    Now notifications of new posts include the complete post (text and pictures), so someone being notified of the post would not have to actually go to the blog to read it.

    I think the result is less traffic for the blog, and me not knowing if people have read the entry or not. Under the old system I would know because it would register as a hit from the mailing. Under the new system unless someone adds a comment I don’t know if they even opened the e-mail.

    I ask because I’ve noticed a drop to visits, especially of new posts, whereas it used to be new posts would get traffic within a few hours of going live.

    Hmmm . . . I’ll try switching and see if that controls it. And then I need to figure out which I like better.
