Hello. I need to start an anonymous blog… I’ve made a post to test whether email address of the admins, editors, contributors, etc. are ever shown anywere in the blog (i.e., in a ‘blogger profile section’). So, if that’s the case, we needn’t register new (fake) email address just to join in to wordpress.

    Thanks in advance!

The administrator can see everyone’s email address. I don’t know if the editors and contributors can.

Yeah nosy is right on that. Here’s some other information from the FAQs blog

    Administrator
The Admin can do everything. Complete power over posts, comments, settings, theme choice, import, users – the whole shebang. Nothing is off-limits.
    Editor
They can publish any posts, edit any posts, edit any published posts, edit any pages, moderate comments, manage categories, manage links and upload files. They can also delete any posts and any pages. They can read, edit and delete private posts.

So it doesn’t seem to me that editors can access the admin area to add users or delete them. It doesn’t seem they can access the profiles and email addresses but it’s an interesting call so I’ll be waiting to hear the answer too.
    Oh Mark ….

You might want to make a new email address and make yourself an editor or contributor just to test it. That’s what I’d do.

I agree with setting up an additional email address and using that. While I believe that all of wp.com’s records are secure and I can’t see hackers going after the database just to obtain your email address, sh*cough*t does happen on occasion.

To my knowledge, nothing like that shows up on the blog although themes like Regulus (I think it’s Regulus) does display portions of your profile.

So (based upon drmike’s answer) It does depend on the theme chosen whether the email is shown to visitors or not. I don’t care about the remote (I hope) possibility of being hacked; knowing that the email addresses of the posters are not going to be disclosed to visitors under normal circumstances is fine for us.

(I’d like to know if the visitors can see the address; everyone who’s going to write in the blog knows each other.).

Thanks to all of you who answered!

To my knowledge, no theme here displays email addresses anywhere within.

The only place that the other bloggers assigned to that blog’s email address would be visible would be at Dashboard -> Users. I’m on a locked down terminal with one browser window so i can’t check right off. I believe the blog admin can pull them up. I don’t know about lesser folks though.
