Askimet issues?

Anyone else having problems with Askimet? Normally works like a charm, but in the last day or so it’s been letting in lots of spam. Comments are not directed to any particular post, so wondering what is up. Anyone hear any buzz on WP or Askimet?

The blog I need help with is

What do you mean by “letting in”? Spammer work in cycles that ebb and flow like the tides. If you are finding spam in your spam folders for you to check out then that’s not Akismet “letting in” spam — it’s keeping it out. See here please > Unwanted Comments and Comment Spam See also >

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Askimet usually directs spam messages to my spam folder and very few are ‘missed’, or put into the queue for comments pending approval. But just today I’ve had to mark maybe a dozen comments in the pending queue as spam manually: I am surprised as generally Askimet is quite good at directing them automatically to the spam folder. Just wondering if perhaps there was anyone else experiencing a similar issue.

FWIW, there are still spam comments being directed into the spam folder as well.

Looks like a new spammer came online today and hit you first before his activities were patterned. Or maybe an existing spammer started a new run from a new provider.

I had been getting a lot of spam to ONE post. I just recently turned comments off on that, and suddenly a spam comment to my archive page. Well I got that turned off, now. Nothing particularly unusual, though. Akismet has been working very well for me.

Sending spam comments into the spam folder is the way it works. You can ignore them and they will eventually be deleted. Or you can manually delete them. Or check for any false positives.
