Austrian "Impressum" Laws
-
Dear Support Team,
I´ve got a complicated question.
I live in Austria and I really want to start up a blog on WordPress. I read an article which said that by Austrian law, all bloggers need to include their full name and address on their blogs. But then it said something about how they don´t have to do that if their blog is on an American website. I´m really confused about all of this and I was wondering if you could help? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Like raincoaster said I’d never ever live in a country with invasive laws like that one. I’d be using Tor if I absolutely had to live there. https://www.torproject.org/

Thank you for replying!
And I´m really not sure how the laws work; it might not be like that anyway.

Hi there,
I’m not familiar with the law as well, but I have contacted our legal department for advice on this situation. I’ll let you know what they say once I hear back.
Thanks!

Hi there,
So I heard back from our team, and while we do not police WordPress.com looking for Impressums, under our Terms of Service agreement you are agreeing to comply with local law. So, please do your best to comply with Austria’s law. I highly recommend speaking with someone who is familiar with Impressum to see if it even applies in your case as we cannot offer any specific legal advice.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
