Thanks for getting Autofocus on wordpress.com – it’s fantastic.

I have an issue when using featured images. If I choose a featured image, in order to display it 800px wide and above the post test, I then remove it from the post body, to prevent it being duplicated.

The featured image for the post does not get included with the post either via email subscriptions or via RSS, so the post looks like it is text only.

I think that either featured images should be included in RSS and email subscriptions. Any thoughts?

The blog I need help with is photomojomike.com.

    Please try creating an excerpt:
Autofocus [if post includes image] > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/the-excerpt-function/

I tried that, but it seems that neither the subscriber email or the rss feed use the excerpt. They still are missing the featured image.

This seems like a integration error with wordpress.com…

Is this likely to be changed? I love this theme (it’s my favourite wordpress them of all time), but as it stands, it doesn’t really work properly, and people end up not seeing the featured image in my post.

Also, is there any chance of the Autofocus+ (commercial version) coming to wordpress.com?

I do know that every email client is different. Some display images and videos and others do not. I don’t know if there is an integration problem or not and Staff won’t be available until January 2nd. Also I cannot answer your last question; only Theme Staff can answer it. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful. Theme Staff will reply to you in this thread after their break.

I’m sorry, but that’s a limitation we’re aware of. If the featured images are not within the post content themselves, there’s no way to display them in the feed.

We’re looking into ways to get around that.

Currently there are no plans to bring the commercial version of Autofocus to WordPress.com. However, if we decide to do so in the future, we’ll let you know.

Thanks for your replies, michiecat and timethief.

It’s a shame as this is my favourite photography theme, but I have had to go for a more conventional one instead in order to have things work well with the rest of the WordPress platform. It’s not the end of the world.

A Happy New Year to you, and thanks for your help!
