Autofocus Theme: Excluding Featured Image on Post
I spent a fair amount of time cutomizing my featured images for the home page of my site:
This was assuming that I could “turn off” the featured image on the actual post, such as is found with Structure theme:
I guess there is no option for this with Autofocus, which seems silly. What if you wanted to create your own cropped images for the home page that then featured something other than that featured image on the post? It looks like it can’t be done.
If there is a way, please let me know. Otherwise I can’t use this theme, which is a shame.
The blog I need help with is jctcreative.wordpress.com.
Featured images have to be set manually to each post and you don’t have to do that for all your previous posts.

Main page and archive pages don’t rely on featured images: each post on the main page and on category/archive pages will display a regularly inserted image (provided the image had been uploaded via the Add Media button of that post). The only difference is when you view a single complete post: regular image shows below the post title, max width 590px, featured image shows above the post title, max width 800px. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/autofocus-front-page-question-featured-image-conversion?replies=3#post-768789
Did you set the featured image for the post and then also insert the image into the post? You don’t want to insert the image into the post, you only want to set it as the featured image.
I changed themes, not worth it. Thanks.
You’re welcome from me and best wishes with you blog.
