Our blog, Broome Arts Mirror, has multiple contributors. I’ve set up a blavatar for the blog. I see where commenters have their avatars show. But is there a way for contributors of original posts to have an image appear with their post, without having to embed one in the post itself?
With the exception of the P2 twitter style theme, neither avatars not gravatars appear in posts. Gravatars it will be displayed when you post to the forums, when you comment on blogs, and if your post is display in the WordPress.com community features.
Please allow me to add that we can all choose whether or not to display Avatars on this page Settings> Discussion
An avatar is an image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on avatar enabled sites. Here you can enable the display of avatars for people who comment on your blog.
If your Gravatar is not displaying on a blog then it can be because the blog is not equipped to display them, or because the blogger chooses not to display them.
Thanks for the info, it confirmed what I was finding. Though I did find a work-around. The theme we’re using, Garland, allows listing the contributors as a widget, and that listing does accept avatars, so that’ll work for us!
