Background on my theme

    Hello,

Last year I had enabled the snowing effect in the background of my Word Press blog around this time, but this year I didn’t add it. It automatically started snowing in my blog. Is there a way to remove the snowing feature? I located a background feature last year that I really liked with pink-like ornaments, but this year I cannot find it. I think it was a paid background feature. Would you know how I could find that again or something similar?

Thanks so much for your help with this!

The blog I need help with is zinahermez.wordpress.com.

    Yes. From https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/help-with-a-customization-of-my-main-page?replies=2#post-2515620

To turn off the snow for visitors to your site: My Sites (Pick the site you want to change if you have more than one)>Settings (near the bottom of the sidebar)>and on the General tab there is Holiday Snow. Untick the box and save your settings.

To turn off snow on WPcom sites you visit: https://wordpress.com/me/account > Holiday Snow tick or untick as appropriate and save your settings.

I’m sorry, but I don’t know what you are referring to. There are no paid background features you can buy here.

This is unrelated to your issue but I also note that you are using a very old retired theme ie. iNove. Themes are retired because they do not support all wordpress.com features. The recommendation is to switch themes and that’s easy to do.

Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

Note that every theme will have a detailed theme description page with set up instructions and a live demo site page that you can consult. Here’s an example:
    https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/adaption/
    http://adaptiondemo.wordpress.com/

Why don’t you try previewing one of these themes?

Thank you so much for all of this helpful information!! When I go to the link you provided for the new theme ideas, it won’t let me preview the theme with my text from my website. There used to be a feature that would allow you to preview a theme with your material, has that changed? I am apprehensive to just activate. And do you have any recommendations for which theme exactly would be a good fit?

Thanks so much for your help with this, again!
