    Hi,

How do you share a release from Beatport on your blog?
It’s easy with Soundcloud, but I don’t know how to get started with Beatport..

    Thanks for any help!

    Timskow

The blog I need help with is timskow.wordpress.com.

Hi. Please copy and paste the entire code provided by Beatport. For the purpose of these forums only, please insert the code between backticks ( ` ) (not apostrophes!) otherwise we won’t be able to see the code.

Thanks for the response, seems like you just can’t embed a beatport release like that. You need to go through the beatport player where you get this code for example. The code however doesn’t seem to work. I’m a noob at this, so maybe I’m doing it wrong :)

    ‘<style>//—————- BEGIN BEATPORT PLAYER ———————–</style>
    <div class=”beatport” align=”center” style=”border:0px; background:transparent; padding:10px;”><map name=”bottomlinks”><area href=”http://flash.beatport.com” alt=”Go to Beatport.com” coords=”0,0,225,50″ target=”_blank” /><area href=”http://flash.beatport.com/viralPlayer/relay?playerId=1791680″ alt=”Get These Tracks” coords=”237,12,332,38″ target=”_blank” /><area href=”http://www.beatportplayer.com/?playerId=1791680″ alt=”Add This Player” coords=”332,12,422,38″ target=”_blank” /></map><img src=”http://ak-media.beatport.com/images/beatport/viralPlayer/top.gif” style=”display:block; border:none;” usemap=”#bottomlinks” /><object type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” data=”https://secure-beatport.bpddn.com/swf/beatportplayer.swf” height=”264″ width=”442″ style=”display:block;” align=”center”><param name=”movie” value=”https://secure-beatport.bpddn.com/swf/beatportplayer.swf” /><param name=”allownetworking” value=”internal” /><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”never” /><param name=”enableJSURL” value=”false” /><param name=”enableHREF” value=”false” /><param name=”saveEmbedTags” value=”true” /><param name=”flashvars” value=”bpCfgPath=http://flash.beatport.com/en-US/xml/gui/swf/configuration/3&playerId=1791680&autoplay=0&volume=80″ /><param name=”loop” value=”false” /><param name=”menu” value=”false” /><param name=”quality” value=”high” /><param name=”salign” value=”lt” /><param name=”scale” value=”noscale” /></object></div>
    <style>//—————- END BEATPORT PLAYER ————————-</style>’

The code doesn’t work when you copy-paste it directly because it’s not allowed here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

You can either use a third-party provider such as VodPod (which can produce a code that is embeddable on WordPress.com) or use a Gigya shortcode.
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/flash/

P.S. I kindly asked to use backticks ` not apostrophes ‘ when pasting code. You were lucky this time because the code displayed correctly nevertheless, but it may not work next time unless you use backticks.

    Re gigya, more specifically here:
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/

But you’ll have difficulty with this particular code if you aren’t experienced. If you need help, let me know.

@airodyssey: Thanks! Sorry about the apostrophes, I thought apostrophes were ” :)

@panaghiotisadam: Thanks! I guess I’ll just stick to linkin to Beatport instead of embedding the player, because honestly the player sucks. But thanks for the help!

As you wish! But why do you think it sucks? I embedded it in my test blog and it’s an interesting player. You mean you don’t like the way it looks or the way it works?

Both, I think it’s just way easier to share the link.
