being forced to log into wordpress to comment on other sites.
I have an old blog I no longer want. When I try to post a comment on websites other than word press, it those websites tell me to log in using wordpress. How do I stop this? It’s greatly annoying.
Blog url: http://crashingtheboards.wordpress.com/
The blog I need help with is crashingtheboards.wordpress.com.
Though Username accounts are not deleted at wordpress.com http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ please note the following:
1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
That’s not enough, ever since WordPress bought Gravatar! I want to keep my gravatar account, but WordPress confuses my password manager by asking me for login information on hosts other than https://wordpress.com/. That’s skeevy from a security standpoint, so I guess I’ll just give up on Gravatar for WordPress blog commenting.
WordPress.com did buy Gravatar the two are both owned by Automattic.
These threads I link to below explain what’s changed when it comes to commenting and why it was changed:
