Blockquotes and italics; color of link text

  1. Using twenty-twelve. Trying to change blockquotes so that it is not in italics. I can change the size of the font with no problem and have tried the following code with no success:

    #content #maincontent blockquote p {

    Thank you.

    Also I am looking for css code to change the color of the links text. Thanks.

    The blog I need help with is

    Hi there, you are on the right track for the blockquotes. Change your selector to this, which I found by using the web inspector and looking at the CSS for the blockquote in your latest post.

    .entry-content blockquote, .comment-content blockquote

    On the link color, overall link color is set here. There are some other link type elements in the site that have more specific selectors and different colors set, so if the below doesn't catch all you want to change, let us know and we can help run down the others.

    a {
        color: #21759B;
  3. Thank you. The blockquote advice worked perfectly.

    Can't get the link code to work and have tried different variations. Have also removed cookies from my site and from the wordpress site. Some links are blue, most are still the unwanted gray. Links in the sidebar on the right are either gray or black and would like them to all be gray.

    Any further advice appreciated.

  4. looks like I've figured it out, so it's resolved. Thank you!

  5. Yay! Glad you got it figured out, and you are welcome.

  6. hmm seems to be ignoring my code now and has reverted back to the original link colors I was trying to change. Here's the code I'm using:

    a, a:link {
    color: #0000FF;

    /* unvisited link */
    a:visited {
    color: #0000FF;

    /* visited link */
    a:hover {
    color: #0000FF;

    /* mouse over link */
    a:active {
    color: #0000FF;

  7. Hi there, I'm seeing blue links everywhere with the exception of your sidebar, which has more specific selectors for the links. If you wish those to be the same blue as well, add the following CSS.

    .widget-area .widget a, .widget-area .widget a:hover, .widget-area .widget a:visited, .widget-area .widget a:active {
    color: #0000FF;
  8. okay the visited link color is gray, otherwise they are blue. Thank you again, and for the additional code.

  9. Hi, let's use a bigger hammer on the visited link colors by adding the !important attribute as follows.

    a:visited {
        color: #B300FF !important;
