Blog Deactivation. Solution?

    Hello everyone,

    Yesterday evening I received the following message when I tried to publish a post:

    “This blog has been deactivated because we believe it does not comply with the Terms of Service or advertising policy.

    If your blog is designed to promote affiliate links, get rich quick programs, banner ads, consists solely or mostly of duplicate or automatically generated material, or is part of a search engine marketing campaign, is not the place for you. Please use the Export feature to move your content to a more appropriate hosting service.

    Occasionally we make mistakes. If you believe we have misclassified your blog, please click here to contact us as soon as possible so we can fix the problem.”

    My blog has nothing to do with getting rich, ads or anything. It’s all about posting about the NBA which I madly love. I don’t know why it was deactivated and I hate the fact that it was done without a single warning, not even a simple email. I have a commitment to my few yet very loyal readers. I cannot even inform them about the situation now. And of course, this happened while the support is “on vacation” so there’s basically no one to call for help. Hence I write here.

    I assume that the reason of the deactivation is a link I had in the side bar, to this page: is a single page which lists 6 Greek basketball blogs (including mine). The person who created it had the idea of putting them together in a page in order to create a community, a “brotherhood”, to bring the few Greek basketball blogs closer. I make no money out of it, I only permit him to list my blog there, just to help the boosting of Greek blogging and reading. Yes, in his page he has a couple of ads but they have nothing to with my blog or myself.

    Anyway, I understand that wordpress is uptight with this kind of things, even though it never crossed my mind that something like that is not permitted. After all, that’s the reason wordpress is so organized and “clean”. If there is really a problem about that link, I am willing to remove it and continue my blogging activity as always. All I ask is to actually tell me what the problem is, help me resolve it asap so everything can go back to normal and request a better, more polite handling for these kind of situations in the future instead of an abrupt deactivation without warning. I’d appreciate a quick reply from the admins, so that I could understand whether I’m still welcome in wordpress or move somewhere else.

    There is a link in the notice you received click it please and contact Staff. We Volunteers have no role to play in this process at all. It’s strictly between you and Staff and is not a matter for posting to a public forum.



    I did that the moment I the problem arose. The support page however says:

    “Should you have any questions or problems in the meantime, please head over to the forums, on which we’ll be keeping a close eye”.

    So.. yeah this is a matter to post here. If they had time to deactivate my blog, I’m sure they have time to discuss and help me solve the problem.

    Sorry for my blunt approach, I have no intention to troll. I just want us to figure this out. I was startled to get closed down without a warning.



    Here’s the bottom line. Volunteers answer support questions only. We have been instructed to respond to threads exactly as I did above. We have been instructed to flag the thread for Staff attention exactly like I did. Thereafter we have been instructed to stop responding to the thread.



    Good, staff attention is what this topic needs. Thanks.



    Staff have many others waiting of you for their attention and bumping this thread will not change the order of the items in their queue. Have you considered finding something else to do? I’m thinking that may be a good idea, as from what I can see Staff may not even get to tomorrow.



    I’m answering to you, I have no intention to bump, it’s pointless. It’s been 7 hours and only 2 replies from me.. Maybe you should take a break from the forums. Anyhow, thanks again for the information.
