    Hello!
    I’m Mr. Interpolations.
And I’m a big fan of WordPress.
My blog’s traffic has cratered. Fast and hard.
Of course, it could be due to my content. I recognize that.
But the decline coincides with the introduction of the new Visitor/Views metric.
The correlation is very strong. So.
Have other WordPress bloggers noticed a similar dip in traffic?

The blog I need help with is interpolations.wordpress.com.

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. They will check you stats for anomalies. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Are you referring to the addition of visitors in December of 2012?

Yes, with the addition of “Visitors” in the metrics graph, my blog traffic dropped by roughly 50% and has stayed that way since.

    Again, it could be coincidence.

My stuff ain’t all that appealing to begin with!

    Cheers,
    K

Have you looked at your Quantcast stats? Should be about the same

Visitors were not “added” the data was simply made available to us.

OK, at the time the data was made available to us, my traffic tanked. Will take a look at Quantcast to see what I can learn. I now suspect that my shit lost whatever appeal it had. Although I swear Google is not sending me the same volume of traffic as it did in the past. But that’s a separate issue. Thanks! Kevin

The change in how we display stats should not have had any impact on the number of site visitors you receive.

My best guess is that you had a site referrer drop their link to you, or something along those lines, or you changed your content/keywords in a way that directed less traffic to your blog. Not that you did anything wrong, per se, just that something changed in such a way that it had a negative impact.

It’s really impossible to say for sure. What I would do, though, is work on getting your blog out there more, by commenting on similar blogs, rethinking your tags/categories, etc. and see if your traffic rebounds.
