blog post won't update

  1. I have updated my first blog post many times. It will NOT update. I have tried viewing it on different computers and with different browsers, so this is not a cache/cookie problem.

    I'm embarrassed to have just invited other bloggers to join me and find out that my first blog looks like crap. Please help!

    After you click Update, does the "Post Updated" with a link to "View post" appear at the top of the editing page?

  3. thanks! i don't know what you did, but whatever it was, fixed the problem. it was NOT loading that image and that headline properly, and i even had a witness to it check it on his computer. but thanks for sending your screenshot, and for whatever you did. :)

  4. I'll dig around a bit more. We cache your site on our servers (so instead of actually building your site each time someone visits, we save a snapshot of it to display to users to improve performance). Every time a new post is saved or one is changed (among other things), the cache should bust to allow a new snapshot.

    Something in the timing there may have been off. It should be an isolated event; we haven't heard from others of the same problem. :-)

    I found the same problem again... Apparently, when I looked at what you had on your screen it was fine! So, I deleted my cache and tried again. But I still get that f*ed up looking blog. I made a screenshot to show you what I keep getting but I don't know how to send it to you. (Um, I guess I can put it in a google doc, and share it with you or something... Let me know.)

    I do need to resolve this 'cause I can't be sure if what I'm seeing is what blog readers will see. Also, this is going to be a collective blog, so I have a number of author/editors who are going to have a problem if I can't figure this out.

  7. Hi! I just did uploaded it to my media library. You'll see that the blog page has in that post an old image that I had discarded (and updated after the change); and it also has screwed up post titles.

  8. Howdy again,

    On the home page, the picture is pulled in automatically from a couple of possible sources. If you have selected a Featured Image (on the bottom right of the post editing page), it'll pull from that first. Otherwise, it'll pull from the first image "attached" to the post. You'll see that your image is still in the media library attached to the post.

    If you either set a featured image or delete that image ( ), it'll stop pulling it up.

    For the post titles, how would you like them displayed? :-) Want to make sure we're on the same page!

  9. Hi! Sorry - was away for a few days with no internet access. I never selected a featured image. Still, I deleted that image, and so it left that post, as you said it would.

    Now, the headline problem. On the image you saw, it was a black font with the title of the blog post on top. I'm seeing the title of the blog on the left hand side in small blue caps. I'd prefer if it was in black on the top of the post. How do I accomplish that? And... why do I get a wholly different blog post image than you do?

    For why our screenshots look differently--a bit of miscommunication earlier. You were referring to your home page ( and I was referring to the post's particular page:

    To change the way the homepage looks, you can add some CSS code that I'd be happy to help you with; however, it does require the Custom Design upgrade, which is $30/year per site.
