Blog "published" & "visible," but can't see (URL, Google, nor social me

Please help. I’m up against a terrible time constraint and any advice would be deeply appreciated.

While creating my blog, I realize it was automatically updating my work publicly on Google and on all my social media sites, so I made it private.

Now I am ready to go!

–I have “published” every page and post. (The “publish” does not provide an option to share with the social media pages, but all are connected and enabled It was doing it automatically before.

–I have quadruple-checked and every page & every post is “published” AND “visible.”

I can see the website in my “view website” and it looks just perfect. Everything is working splendidly.

–However, it does not show up on Google now, nor does it show up on any of my social media sites. In fact, it does not even show up when I type the exact URL into a browser.

I did have an old version of the site, which I deleted because the URL accidentally had a swear word. (Oops!) Even though deleted, THAT one comes up on Google. However my current site is no where to be found … and I really, really need it.

I’m sure it is something quite simple that I am missing. Thank you!!

The blog I need help with is social1media1sass.wordpress.com.

It takes weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL.

A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.

What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.

What attracts search engines is unique content in posts (not pages) that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. Start now publishing original content posts frequently two or even three times weekly. For more information read > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/

To verify blog ownership of a WordPress.com blog with the major search engines you must use this process > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please.

WordPress.com automatically supplies sitemaps for our blogs to search engines – we do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines

Thanks for your response. It’s weird because I have a different WP blog that showed up immediately, and the reason I set this one to private was because all my edits were showing up on Google and social media in real time! Anyway, I can’t tell on my PC because I’m not home, but it DOES show up I’m Google.

I still have the problem of it not going to social media sites, and my not being able to access it via the URL on my PC…

When you set a blog to private it can take WEEKS even MONTHS for search engines to re-index it. All they’ve seen is the “Go away” message, so they often don’t check back for ages. You’re lucky.

But it’s very common. Lots of people do this.

You should share it manually to social media sites at first. Otherwise they too have the message it’s private and shouldn’t be shared. Once you’ve shared it manually that should override their “memory” of it being private.
