Blog site configuration
I have rarely used wordpress, but would like to start using it more. I need some help setting it up (using the same theme that I have now, which is Chaotic Soul) such that:
The Front Page has an introduction to the blog site and summaries of the latest posts (2-3);
The right pane menu with Pages, Archives and Categories stay the way they are;
For each Category, when clicked, a introduction (static) is followed by the posts in that category in reverse chronological order).
I appreciate the help.
The blog I need help with is planarchi.wordpress.com.
Please post an active link starting with http:// for the blog in question.

You can set a static front page by following these directions > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
In order to do that you will have to create two new pages. One for the static front page and another for the blog posts to appear on.
If you want summaries of your recent posts to appear on the running page for posts which will be another one that you must create because you are choosing to have static front page, then you gave to edit each existing post and insert “the more tag” and click “upgrade”. For all new posts you must insert “the more tag” prior to publishing them see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
The right hand column is a sidebar and it’s only use is for widgets. All widget descriptions and installation instructions are found on this support page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/widgets-sidebars/
Also note that I can recommend a comprehensive tutorial. The Learn WordPress.com tutorial is divided into progressive levels and presented as a series: http://learn.wordpress.com/
This is the main link to support documentation http://en.support.wordpress.com and the searchbox there provides results form the documentation and from forum threads too.
I will surely try these steps. Thanks for taking the time to reply back.
Your welcome and best wishes with your blog. :)
