Blog text – colour and font not as expected

    I’m not sure if this is related to the issue you had earlier in regard to blogs not displaying correctly but the colours of my text are not the same as those chosen when doing the customization.
    I have also used typekit for the first time and the font isn’t as expected either.
    Is there anything I can do?

    The blog I need help with is paleseptember.co.uk.

    Yes I’d already read that and amended my CSS accordingly but to no avail.
    Many thanks for your time.

    The colors in the Customizer are set to automatically adjust for contrast. If you try to choose a link color that is too similar to the background color, the color picker will change the color to make sure you have sufficient contrast:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-colors/

    To override that feature, you will need to use custom CSS. For assistance with your CSS, you can post in the CSS Customization forums: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

    We have custom fonts within WordPress. If you decide to use Typekit, then you are actually using fonts we allow, but have no direct control over. We just use whatever settings you’ve set up at Typekit on your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/#connect-a-typekit-account

    Thank you for your help. I understand about the contrasting colours so will amend them through CSS instead. However, I still have a problem with the colour of the site title and description being controlled though this within the site header.

    #site-title a, #site-description {
    color: #111 !important;
    }

    Is this something I can amend?

    In regard to typekit, I selected the CSS h1, h2, h3 etc within typekit for the typekit font but nothing happened (hence my original query). However, now I’ve added a class or id as well they have changed – is this correct? I can’t just use h2 and expect all my h2 headings to change to typekit font??

    Many thanks for your help. It is really appreciated.

    For the first question, when the !important declaration is used, this is telling the stylesheet to override any subsequent modification of the stylesheet.

    For the second question, if a more specific style has been declared, such as h1.entry-title, then that will override anything declared as just h1.

    You may wish to post over in the CSS customization forums for suggestions on how to modify certain things and possibly some workarounds: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

    Thanks ever so much for your help and patience.
    I will ask how the !important declaration got there and if I can remove it over at the CSS forum.
