Blog Was Unknowingly Deleted

    Hey there,

I logged into WordPress.com today to find my blog had been deleted completely and I was wondering who I could speak to about recovering it? I’m seriously freaking out over here, because I strongly believe I was either hacked because I am the sole user on this account. That or WordPress made an error and deleted it accidentally. There wasn’t much in terms of content that I haven’t already backed up, so I’m okay if that is lost, but the web address (Quealesnest.wordpress.com) is extremely important to me. I tried to search for recovery options on the site, but I can’t seem to find any relating to this specific issue. I appreciate any and all information you can provide to rectify this situation. I will be taking the necessary precautions with my account passwords in the meantime. Thank you all for your support.

    Thanks!

    Hi quealesnest

As per the warning (Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address).
For more information on deleted site please visit the link below:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

Addditionally i am tagging this post as ‘modlook’ for WordPress staff attention. Please wait for some time staff will also assist you on this.

While Staff will reply to the issue of your deleted site when they look in on this thread, if you suspect that someone else has access to your account or if you are the sole administrator and things have changed on your site without your knowledge, you should immediately change your site password and your email account password as well.

Here’s how you can change your WordPressdotcom account password: https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/selecting-a-strong-password/

It’s important that you choose a strong password and that you do not use that password on more than one site. Each site you log in to should have its own unique password.

Enabling 2-factor authentication on both your WordPressdotcom account and your email account can also help to keep them secure. Here’s more on that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/

Thank you both for the replies. I have already taken the necessary precautions regarding my login credentials. I’m currently working towards setting up the 2-step verification. Hopefully I’ll get a member of the staff to help me retrieve my web address. Thanks again!

    Hi quealesnest,

Please send me a link to the blog that has been deleted and I will look into this for you.

    Thanks!

@justjennifer — thanks for the account security information you included.

Thank you for your response Gemmacevans! It isn’t a specific blog post, but rather my entire blog and web address associated with it. The web address was quealesnest.wordpress.com. When I try to go there now it states it no longer exists and that the author deleted it. Given I am the sole user on the account and certainly did not delete it, this can’t be correct. Please let me know how we can fix this issue and I can get back to blogging on my site again. Thanks!

    Hi quealesnest,

Our systems shows quealesnest.wordpress.com was deleted by your user account several years ago. This process is permanent so we unable to restore the site, however you can create a site using a variation of that address:

    https://wordpress.com/start/

    You’re welcome @gemmacevans :)

@quealesnest I was going to suggest searching for your old site content in Google’s cache, but I couldn’t find any reference to your site there. Sorry for no better news.

@justjennifer — I couldn’t find any either but thanks for looking.
