Blogroll items supposedly “visible” but not on site
The links you entered will not display until you place your Links widget in your sidebar. The information in this thread may be helpful https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=6990&page&replies=8#post-46950
Timetheif—thanks; how do I do that? (It might have been worth mentioning that I have an older category of permalinks called “Brian Doherty links” that I created the first day or so I started the blog; that category heading and those links ARE visible on the site, as well as in the blogroll management page; it is only this newly created category and set of links of “reviews” that are on the management page, suppsedly visible, but not actually visible on the site.)
it may look like you have multiple Blogrolls when you view your links in your sidebar. But in truth, you only have only one Blogroll, which is displays links as separate alphabetically ordered groups, in accord with the Categories that you assigned to those links when you entered them into your Blogroll.
The Links widget does not have the icon with blue lines on the right side of it because it does not require configuration. => Dashboard => Presentation => Sidebar widgets (drag the Links widget out of the Available Widgets box and drop it into the Sidebar box. Then click Save Changes”.)
If however you have eliminated the DEFAULT blogroll category and not replaced it with another DEFAULT category the blogroll of links will not appear.
It’s also worth mentioning that i had much the same issue with one of my sites, and i ended up having to keep the “blogroll” category in order to have all my links show (this was using the Connections theme). The category is empty, it is not the default, and my links are on the site. Go figure.
I edited and removed the part judyb12 is referring to because it may not apply to your situation. If it does then the following will apply.
Help! my blogroll of links is not appearing in my sidebar and I did everything right. ;
The links widget does not have the icon with blue lines on the right side of it because it does not require configuration. If you have not deleted the DEFAULT category blogroll to your categories then following the instructions will result in it appearing in your sidebar. If however you have eliminated the DEFAULT blogroll category and not replaced it with another DEFAULT category the blogroll of links will not appear.
Please do this -> dashboard -> categories -> manage -> categories
Do you see a category called blogroll? If not then in the categories box type in Blogroll and click “add”
Go to your blogroll where you have added the links -> dashboard -> blogroll
Look at each one you entered there. Have you assigned each one of the links to a category? If not then you must do so by editing each one and assigning it to a category and be sure to save each one after you edit. (Remember Blogroll is your default category.)
Sorry if I’m being dense. In the categories page under “manage” as per timethief’s advise, there are four categories: Blogroll (0 posts, 0 links), Brian Doherty Links (0 posts, 5 links–this category name and those links ARE visible on the site), Reviews (0 posts, 5 links—this is the troublesome category name and links that ARE NOT visible on the site), and Uncategorized (18 posts, 0 links). Given this, what can/should my next step be to have that review category and links appear on site? (I did go to the create links widget page, but forgive me if I’m being stupid, I couldn’t figure out what to do there that would solve the problem.)
sounds like you might need the big guns. Send a feedback in to support, give them the details, including the info in your last post here. The feedback button is in the upper right corner of the dashboard. Good luck!
Edit: and you’re not being dense; it’s not working correctly.
