Blogspot / Blogger not accepting my WordPress comments

  1. I'm have a lot of problems commenting on Blogspot / Blogger blogs when I use the WordPress blog option on OpenID. I never used to have this problem, but over the last couple of weeks it's been getting worse.

    My site is:

    How do I fix this?

The blog I need help with is

  2. Hey there! Could you please clarify what type of problems you're having? I've just commented on one Blogger (Disqus) post and one quite old Blogspot (legacy comments) blog and haven't had any problems with my OpenID.

Perhaps you can try logging out and logging back in on, as well as clearing your browser cache and cookies?

I'm getting the same thing - I type my comments and go through the dreaded Captcha routine, then just get in a loop when, no matter how carefully type, it keeps telling me "The characters you entered didn't match the word verification. Please try again." If I comment anonymously, it isn't a problem. Here's a site where it happened recently:

  4. @landscapelover thanks, I can now see that too! It seems that the issue is on Blogger's side though, because I can't comment using *any* of my OpenIDs, incl. Livejournal and TypePad. Did anyone contact Blogger about this already?

I have the same problem and it is becoming worse, so much so that it is just a pain to comment on blogger blogs. I have contacted Blogger and got no reply.

  6. Hello there,
This is not a issue. It's a Blogger (blogspot) issue that must be reported to their Staff.

  7. @kovshenin
Blogger Staff have made some recent software chnages. However, even before the changes were made there have been long standing problems for bloggers with posting comments to blogspot blogs. Unless the blogspot blogger uses the Name and URL setting for comments we cannot pst them. Open ID fails more often than it works and if the blogspot blogger does not choose Name and URL the software refuses to recognize us when our usernames are not the exact same name followed by as the blog URL we are posting. This has been a huge annoyance to those of us who have domains being free hosted by for a long time.

  8. I've had trouble even though by username is the same as my blog name.

  9. My username is the same as my blog name, but it doesn't make any difference. It's particularly bad for people with domain mapping, but it's always finicky.

  10. It seems the problem's worse today, and I can't leave comments on any blogger sites using OpenID - they all say OpenID error.

    Here's one blog example...

  11. Complain to the blogger about OpenID, if you can find a contact form or email. Otherwise, use Name/URL and if they don't have that option, don't comment on that blog.

  12. same problems here...It is so annoying.

  13. To be honest I no longer fret about it. I gave up. If the blog is not set up to accept Name and URL I move on to the next blog.

If you have your followers email addresses why not contact them and ask them to change their comment settings to Name and URL so you can post comments? I did that and some bloggers made the change so I can post comments now.

  15. Apparently the problem still hasn't been solved - I've just gone through the process as well and it was a pain. Thankfully she had Name/URL set up and I eventually just tried that and it worked.

  16. It's good to know you succeeded. As the only other alternative is to register a Blogger username account and blog and use it only for the purpose of commenting. Doing that means the username will not be linked to your blog.

  17. The problem has been happening for years. I doubt it will ever be solved; it is obviously not a priority at Blogger.
