As you haven’t posted a link to your blog we cannot see it to help you. We don’t know which theme you are trying to customize or what you have done. Please try this
-> Presentation -> Widgets and drag the Links widget out of the “Available widgets” box then drop it into the “Sidebar Widgets” box and click “Save Changes.”
    These may also help
understanding your Blogroll, Links widget and Categories
understanding widgets and how to set them up

When I used that link I was re-directed here http://wordpress.com/ and what that means is that you have your blog marked as “private”.

Setting that aside, have you tried what I suggested above?
And which theme were you using css editing on?
I ask because some themes do not have widgets (Ambiru, Supposedly Simple and Green Marinee).

If what I suggested does not work for you then you will have to wait until a blogger who is well acquainted with css can help you. In between it would be helpful if you posted exactly what you did as there’s next to nothing to go on in your post.

    My Blogroll has also disappeared.

    (email redacted)

I added the de.licio.us widget with three or four links- and named the widget “links” When I went back to see how it looked, the blogroll was gone.
    Arghhh…

Posting your email address in that form here simply means that spam bots will be all over it. Also note that forum Volunteers do not provide support via email.

I have located your blog http://learningspecialist.wordpress.com/
This is the css customization forum so I’m wondering if you purchased a css customization upgrade and if your blogroll disappeared when you were editing?

This is where you add new links -> Blogroll -> Add Link

Have you tried this? -> Presentation -> Widgets and drag the Links widget out of the “Available widgets” box then drop it into the “Sidebar Widgets” box and click “Save Changes.”

I have dragged my links widget into the sidebar widgets box, saved changes, added the categories widgets, and marked all my links under the blog roll as “links.” They are still not showing up?

Also when I try to save text in the text widget which I drag into the sidebar widgets box it always reverts to an original text i no longer want there. I have tried to add more text widgets and use a new widget but this text keeps being refreshed into the text widget. I have even tried to restart my computer with no avail. My blog can be found at lavitacucinare.com. Please help.

    kjs444 – http://lavitacucinare.com/ is not a wordpress.com blog.

You need to ask at http://wordpress.org/support – but first check that each link is in a category.
