Bundle Refund for Multiple Domains
WordPress is currently hosting three domains for me. I’m pretty new at this and think that I overspent. If I now understand correctly, I should be able to add domains to one account?
My business partner and I launched a site: nobleneon.com and in the same day I purchased foundyoga.org
Last week I purchased counterposeyoga.com
I purchased the $99 hosting bundle for each of these and later a peer told me that I should just be able to add a domain e.g. counterposeyoga.com I could have added to foundyoga.org without purchasing the entire bundle over again.
Is there some way you can help me with this where I could somehow consolidate and get at least a partial refund on my counterposeyoga.com site? I am new to this and trying to start a business, so I have little resources and need all the support I can get.
Thank you in advance for your help.
The blog I need help with is nobleneon.com.
I have tagged this thread for a Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.
P.S. WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund yourself directly from the Store section of your Dashboard
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
Thanks timethief. I will await a staff reply.
In the meantime, perhaps you could tell me, if I would like to keep the domain counterposeyoga.com, but want to get a refund for the bundle I purchased with it, can I transfer the domain to my foundyoga.org account? The other accounts already have the bundle purchased with them and were purchased several months ago.
As you mentioned, you have 3 different bundles, each of which included one of the domain names that you mentioned, and each of which was purchased by a different WordPress.com account.
If you would like a partial refund for the bundle for counterposeyoga.com, I can do that for you, but you would lose the other advantages that come with the bundle, including No Ads, Extra Space, and the Custom Design. A bundle cannot be shared among different sites, so even if we transfered that site to another one of your accounts, it still wouldn’t be able to share the upgrades from your other sites. The only way we could work it that way is if you want 2 or 3 of the domains to actually point to the same site. For example, you could have both counterposeyoga.com and foundyoga.org point to foundyoga.org; is that something you’d like to do?
Let me know how you’d like to proceed, and we’ll work something out!
Thanks for demystifying all of this for me. I hope I understand correctly.
So between counterposeyoga.com and foundyoga.org, I would like to keep counterposeyoga.com as my main site in the future and have the all of the bundle advantages. Could I have both counterposeyoga.com and foundyoga.org point to counterposeyoga.com since that’s the one I would like to continue with the bundle? Ultimately, it would be great if I could get partial refund since I’ll only be using one site.
Does that make sense?
Ok, so I will refund the difference between the domain registration and the bundle to the account that owns foundyoga.org, and then I will transfer the domain name foundyoga.org to the counterposeyoga.com site so that it points to the same site (and counterposeyoga.com will be the primary domain). Does that work for you?
Would you like for me to delete the foundyogadotorg.wordpress.com site as well, once I’ve done the transfer? Just to avoid future confusion about which site is what.
If all of that sounds correct, let me know and I’ll go ahead and do that for you.
That all sounds great. Thank you so much for your assistance!
All the best
I’m sorry, but I just realized I will have to do things a bit differently than I described below, because the bundle for foundyoga.org was purchased this summer, and can’t be refunded even partially. I can transfer the counterposeyoga site to the account that owns the foundyoga site, and I will refund the partial amount to the account that currently owns the counterposeyoga site. Is that ok?
I see, that makes sense. That will work fine I think.
Just to clarify, I can still give folks the counterposeyoga address, it would just change to foundyoga.org once the site loads, correct? When it’s time for me to renew my foundyoga.org bundle can I change my main address then to counterposeyoga.com and will the posts and settings on my site remain the same or will I have to start over if I switch at that time?
Thanks again for your attentiveness.
Ok, so I’ve gone and rearranged things for you. This is where we stand:
– I reimbursed $81 to the account that used to own the counterposeyoga.wordpress.com site.
– I transfered the counterposeyoga.com domain to the foundyoga account
– I deleted the old counterposeyoga.wordpress.com and foundyoga.wordpress.com sites, to avoid confusion
– I made counterposeyoga.com the primary domain for the foundyogadotorg.wordpress.com site
– foundyoga.org also points/redirects to the same site
To answer your questions, since counterposeyoga.com is the Primary Domain, any link such as foundyoga.org/about will automatically be redirected to counterposeyoga.com/about ; if you ever decided to change the primary domain to foundyoga.org, then the opposite would be true as well. Also, currently the foundyoga account has 2 upgrades: one bundle (which includes the foundyoga.org domain) which will need to be renewed before July 22nd, 2013, and the mapping and registration of counterposeyoga.com, which will need to be renewed before January 8th, 2014.
If I misunderstood any of your requests, please let me know and we can switch things up again.
Thanks a million richardmtl.
This should work out just fine. I’m testing it out now and looks like I’m all set. But perhaps you could keep this thread open for a week in case I run into anything?
Sure thing, I’ll mark it as “resolved” but it will remain “open” so you can come back and reply any time, and I’ll be notified if and when you reply. Glad to have helped!
