Buying a domain under a new name & accepting adverts

    Hi there,

    I am really not very good with technology so had a few questions that I really hope someone will be able to help me with!

    I currently have (quite a basic) blog which you can see here: http://britishbeautyblagger.wordpress.com/

    I really want to change the name and buy a domain under the new name. My questions are:
    – Can I do this on WordPress? Will I still be able to use the WordPress way of blogging/posting e.g. the dashboard?
    – I want my images to appear bigger on the site. How do I do this? Is it just a case of finding a template that allows bigger images? (I am using Bueno template at the moment).
    – I want to be able to allow advertising and LinkWithin on my blog if I buy a domain on WordPress, will this let me?

    Sorry if this is all quite basic stuff!

    Yes, you sure can! You can purchase a custom domain and map it to your WordPress.com site. Even with a custom domain, your Dashboard can be viewed using http://britishbeautyblagger.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ or through your admin bar when logged in at WordPress.com.

    Register a New Domain

    – I want my images to appear bigger on the site. How do I do this? Is it just a case of finding a template that allows bigger images? (I am using Bueno template at the moment).

    It depends on what you’re trying to do. A different theme might help. Additionally, you can modify your default media settings by following the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/media-settings/

    If you need finer control over image sizes, you can modify them in your HTML code or even purchase the Custom Design upgrade to gain access to your CSS file.

    Once you know what you’re trying to do, if you’re unable to resolve it yourself, you might post a new thread with your specific request, and someone can assist you further.

    – I want to be able to allow advertising and LinkWithin on my blog if I buy a domain on WordPress, will this let me?

    WordPress.com does not allow users to add their own advertising to blogs hosted with us. We do have WordAds, which is an advertising program you can participate in:
