Can I Change Permalinks?
DO NOT muck with changing any URLs. Your blog is operating correctly.
Most bloggers have published content under their .wordpress.com URLs prior to purchasing a domain name via a domain mapping upgrade. The reason they do purchase domain mapping is so that all the URLs from the .wordpress.com root blog when clicked seamlessly redirect to the same content in the same posts and pages under the new domain URLs.
You can read why that is and how domain mapping works here. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/04/02/do-i-need-a-domain/ The URLs your visitors see on the front of the blog are the domain URLs. Some URLs you see on the Admin side of the blog for media are the .wordpress.com blog URLs because that is where the content is located and where it is being mapped from.
P.S. I forgot to add that it can take up to 3 – 4 months for Google and Bing and other search engines to re-index the same content under the new domain URLs. Mucking with any URLs by trying to change them yourself will only lead to broken links and grief. Everything is operating properly – relax and blog on. :)
Ok, thanks. I did purchase domain mapping as well and yes, everything is functioning correctly. I just wanted past post URLs to look the same as new ones with “pleinvanity.com”.
I’m glad you understand that your domain mapped blog is operating correctly. Happy blogging. :)
