Can I remove text floating over a custom header?

I am using the quintus theme, and I have added a custom header. I disabled the text in the header. When I look at my blog in Google Chrome, it looks great. When I look at it in IE8, there is black text on top of my image. Also, the dates are in circles on chrome, but are squares on IE8. Can I fix this? Thanks!

Thanks for reporting the IE8 issue with the header text. It should hopefully be fixed now.

As for the dates, they will be shown as squares in IE8 because the browser is outdated and lacks proper css support. See:
