Can I renew my site for $17 or remove my content/have domain name elsewhere?

  1. I'm poor and my card expired and I had no idea the price was going up. Is there any way to lower the price again?

The blog I need help with is

  2. I'm not sure which price you are talking about exactly, but I assume domain registration and mapping upgrades, which is today $18 according to what is mentioned in the Store in our Dashboard (5$ domain registration and 13$ mapping).

If you are willing to give up your annual domain name and mapping fees, you can continue to blog at the underlying URL ( for free.

  3. Registering a .com, .org, or .net domain through and mapping that domain to your blog starts at $18.00 per domain and per year, or $25.00 per domain and per year for a .me domain. For $8.00 more, you can also make the domain registration private.

Did you buy your domain name somewhere else? If so, then the mapping is less expensive:

Mapping a domain you already own costs $13.00 per domain, per year.

It looks like you haven't paid for the name registration, though you may still be able to purchase it without penalty. Once it lapses, there will be extra fees to recover it:

  4. ~~JEN!
The link seems to be holding the OP captive in some way I'm not familiar with:

Oh no! This domain expired 22 days ago!

Please contact the owner of this website and ask them to renew the domain. Don't worry, you'll still be able to view the site at this web address:

    Shouldn't the link to work?

  5. The domain mapping will hang on for a while after it expires - and thus the black screen - it you click on the black screen in the right place the black goes away - if the OP does not renew both the name registration and domain mapping then the OP will need to have the staff remove the mapping

  6. Hi auxclass,
I've seen the black screen before but not the message I quoted above. Even putting in the link doesn't work! So is it a case of the domain name expiring but the domain mapping still being in effect?

  7. Maybe it's just that I haven't seen the "cute-ish" robot before.

  8. The robot has been around for a while - the part about clicking on the correct spot is a bit hidden - I pitched a complaint some time back - the base blog URL does still put you at the mapped domain - the first few times I think I ran into the robot I could not get around it - their way of trying to get a visitor to contact the blog owner - have seen many non-profits that did not have a real good way of keeping track of the domain name registration and have had the renewal get messed up -

Not sure what the answer to the renewal got lost or forgotten issue is - I would like to see multi-year upgrades available for at least the registration and mapping

  9. And thankfully, now one should be able to click anywhere on the black background and the screen overlay should disappear. At least it did for me when I visited the OP's site with Chrome. (sorry for the delayed reply 1tess-I'm...wait for it... in the kitchen!)
