I wasn’t paying attention and changed to a theme that doesn’t have any of my widgets.

Is there a way to tell wordpress to revert back to theme I had before?

Thanks for your help & Happy 2011!
    Karla

The blog I need help with is krwebb.wordpress.com.

Hi! What’s the URL of your WordPress.com blog? If you can post that I can help you figure out what your original theme was.

If you recently created a blog your default theme would have been Twenty Ten.

When you change themes all your widgets automatically move into the “inactive widgets” box. Then a sample set of images that aren’t really widgets appears in the sidebar and we go here and make our widget choices set them up and the sample images disappear.

As you have already changed themes that’s where the widgets you had are now. Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets box so you will have to set them up again.

I don’t know which theme you had previously. You can use the search utility and Feature Filters in your Dashboard > Appearance > Browse Themes > Feature Filters to locate themes of interest to you. (A-Z, Popular, Features)

Each theme has a thumbshot and a features summary description. You can browse and when you find one of interest you can click “Preview”. When you are ready to make your selection you can click “Activate”.

P.S. Do understand that changing back to your other theme will make no difference to where the widgets are located. You will still find them in the Inactive Widgets box and still have to set them up again.

I have a similar question. I am currently using the Connections theme, and I’m thinking about moving over to Bueno. I’m not sure if I’ll like it until I have access to the full admin panel, though, so I want to make sure Connections is still available if I decide to switch back.

I can find Connections on the theme showcase [http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/connections/] when I click the link from the bottom of my blog, but this page does not have an activation link. The theme doesn’t come up in a search like it did before. Is this theme still active, and if so, how can I switch back to it again if I take the risk of changing?

    Thanks, Jen

When your blog is already wearing the theme it will not display in the theme choices you can make.

@jen- It doesn’t show up under Dashboard>Themes because you are currently using it.
You can also preview your blog dressed in any other theme by clicking on the “preview” link under each theme there.

The Admin panels and Dashboard are the same for all themes – you will not see the current theme you are using as an option to switch to (you are already there)

The old three almost the same answers trick – should we call this a “Hat Trick Reply”?

You’re welcome and not to worry. The Connections theme has been updated and is popular and will not be disappearing any time soon. Happy blogging!

if I switch to a new theme, will my background and header images still be stored as such?

The images you upload into your Media Libaray will remain there unless you delete them. Once they are deleted then they cannot be displayed.

Your background and header image are sized to “fit” each theme. In the case of the blog linked to your user name they are sized for Twenty Ten. If you change themes then here are the sizes required for header images > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/ Note that not all themes have the feature that allows for using a backhround.
